Choose the right diamond blades for the job

Modern tools are advanced and highly efficient. Take the example of the diamond blade which is able to cut through tough materials. It has diamonds fixed to the base of the blade which is able to saw through hard materials. So far, it has been used in the construction industry for stone cutting, the IT industry for cutting semiconductor materials and the gem industry to cut stones including diamonds themselves.

Considering the number of materials that need to be cut using diamonds blades, it can get confusing choosing the right one for the job. What’s been done is that blades have been made such that most of them can cut through various materials. Hence, one blade will do the job of several. Yet even so, there are still some problems that arise. For instance, cured concrete found in two regions may not have the same hardness and texture as the other. One could harder and the other softer. Thus, you will need two different blades to cut through both. So, to help you choose the right type of blade for the job, follow the tips given below.

1. The blade you select should be able to easily cut through whatever material you’re working on. If the diamond blade you’re using tends to bounce or spark while cutting tough materials, then this means that the segment bond is hard. It would be better to choose a blade with a softer segment bond. This will ensure that the diamonds in the blade don’t glaze over. If you’ve already bought one and can’t afford to get another then you need to redress the blade. This will involve running it through a softly abrasive material like sandstone or asphalt.

2. Segmented blades work well when cutting through concrete. Turbo blades do the job faster and are also suitable for working on stone and brick. Segmented turbo blades are a mixture of the two. The blade has castellated teeth to speed up the cutting process. Wide gullet blades work best on very tough materials like clay, fired brick and stone.

3. Always remember to do your research thoroughly before purchasing diamond blades. This will save you money as you can’t afford to delay work what with labor costs shooting up.
